Most WordPress hosting sells you a server and a login screen. Everything after that is your job: install WordPress, pick a theme, find the right plugins, then write every page yourself. At SimpleWP we wanted to remove that job entirely. You describe your business in a sentence, and a few minutes later you have a real WordPress site with its pages already written.

Getting there was an engineering problem as much as a product one. This post covers what made it hard, how we made site creation much faster, and why the result is the easiest WordPress hosting we know how to build.

What Makes WordPress Hosting Hard to Simplify

A hosting dashboard is the easy part. The hard part is everything that happens after the payment: SimpleWP has to build a whole site for you.

A new site goes through more than twenty steps. We create the hosting account, install and configure plugins, add a contact form, write and insert every page, pick and import stock images, set the homepage, and issue the SSL certificate. Each step talks to real infrastructure through WP Cloud, the WordPress platform from Automattic.

That made one number matter more than any other. On WP Cloud, a single WordPress command line (WP-CLI) call takes about 2.4 seconds. Roughly 1 second of that is opening a secure connection, and 1.4 seconds is WordPress starting up. A standard site used to need hundreds of these calls, and they ran one after another.

How We Measured WordPress Hosting Speed

We didn’t guess where the time went; we timed every step. The goal was simple: the time from clicking Pay to having a usable site. We measured it on our development environment with real WP Cloud sites, before and after the changes, using the same method both times.

Every step of site creation records its own duration, so we could see exactly which steps were slow and why.

The Speed Optimisation Results

The headline: a standard SimpleWP site is now ready in about 3.6 minutes after payment, down from about 6.3 minutes. That is 42% faster.

Site type Before After Change
Standard WordPress site 375 s 217 s 42% faster
Elementor site 790 s 405 s 49% faster

These are early measurements on a small number of test sites (six before and three after for the standard site, one each for Elementor), so treat them as a strong direction rather than a final benchmark.

Writing pages in parallel

Writing every page with AI was the biggest single cost. Pages used to be written one at a time, and each took about 35 seconds. Now SimpleWP writes several at once. On a 10-page site, page generation dropped from about 395 seconds to about 220 seconds, 44% faster, with no increase in cost per site. Every one of those AI calls goes through our centralized prompt gateway.

Starting before you pay

The homepage step went from 123 seconds to under 3 seconds. While you are still filling in the setup wizard, SimpleWP already prepares your site and drafts its text. By the time you pay, most of that work is done, so the time you actually wait is much shorter.

Fewer round trips

Since every command costs seconds, the cheapest command is the one we never run. We grouped plugin installs and support files into single batches, and replaced fixed waiting periods with readiness checks. One step that used to wait 10 seconds now takes 0.1 seconds. The step that waits for new hosting to come online went from 18 to 10 seconds.

Site creation that resumes on its own

Speed means little if a long process has to start over. Site creation is now durable: every step saves its progress, so if a server restarts mid-build, creation resumes from the last finished step instead of starting again from scratch.

How Much Simpler Is SimpleWP?

Fast WordPress hosting only matters if the rest of the experience is simple too. Here is what getting a site looks like on SimpleWP compared with the usual WordPress hosting setup:

Task Typical WordPress hosting SimpleWP
Install WordPress You run the installer Done for you
Choose a theme Browse and install yourself Suggested from your description
Plugins Research and configure Installed and configured for you
Page text Write every page Written for you by AI
Contact form Install a form plugin and build it Ready on your contact page
Later changes Learn the WordPress admin Ask in chat

With SimpleWP, the whole setup is one description and one payment. After that, you edit your site by asking the AI assistant, or connect ChatGPT or Claude and manage it from there.

Simple doesn’t mean locked in. Every SimpleWP site is real WordPress, with the full admin, the full plugin and theme ecosystem, and your files and database yours to export whenever you want. If you prefer building visually, you can pick Elementor in the setup wizard and get fully designed Elementor pages instead.

What’s Next

Speed work never really ends. The Elementor path still has room to batch further, and we’ll keep timing every step and publishing what we learn.

If you want WordPress hosting that builds your site for you, create your site on SimpleWP or see the plans.
